What if your child could move better, play longer, and feel more confident?

Are you worried your child can’t keep up with their peers when playing?

Does your child have low tone, poor balance, or trouble with coordination?

Does your child have low interest in physical activity?

If so, the First Mover Kids community is here to help.

We deliver engaging seminars, workshops, and training for parents, teachers, support workers, and allied health professionals—giving them the knowledge and tools to support children’s gross motor development, learning, emotional regulation, and overall wellbeing.

Movement is the foundation for how children grow, learn, and feel. When children develop strong motor skills and body awareness, they are better able to focus, regulate their emotions, and participate confidently in everyday life. Our approach brings together movement, brain development, and emotional wellbeing in a practical, evidence-based way.

Our training is hands-on, accessible, and designed for real-world settings. We focus on strategies that can be implemented immediately—at home, in classrooms, and across community and clinical environments—to create lasting impact for children and the people who support them.

We don’t just educate—we empower. Because when adults understand how children develop, children are given the best opportunity to move, learn, and thrive.

We are paediatric physiotherapists helping children thrive through movement.

  • “Myself and my partner recently attended this awesome workshop on primitive reflexes and language strategies to support positive behaviour, and we both found it really helpful. It was insightful to learn about primitive reflexes and also understand how they can impact children's development. The practical language tools we took away have already been so helpful at home. It was delivered in a really warm and engaging way that made everything easy to understand and apply straight away. We’d highly recommend it to any parent, truly a valuable experience with great takeaways to implement at home to support your child/children.”

  • “The guys at First Mover Kids were amazing. I have been anxious and struggling with my child’s behaviour and worried about my son being behind his peers physically. I have been implementing the communication strategies outlined in the workshop, and I am already seeing immediate changes in my son’s attitude towards taking part in exercise with other kids. The advice on how to develop intrinsic motivation and bring this into activities, games and even school work have been game changing. Thank you James and Ryan. I highly recommend this workshop for any parent, not just the parent of neurodivergent children.”

  • “I came wanting more information on primitive reflexes but came away with so much more. The guys were so engaging and personable to work with. What I loved was how they balanced the theory with real life practical exercises, communication strategies and take-aways that can be used straight away. All my children (not just my son with Autism) are benefiting from this workshop. I now know how to set up activities and exercises for my children. I also feel empowered with communication strategies that have an immediate positive effect on my children. I will definitely be attending the next seminar and highly recommend it to any parent.”

  • “I had previously been prescribed primitive reflex exercises for my 7 year old daughter with ASD and ADHD. Unfortunately my daughter found these exercises boring and refused to do them. My previous physiotherapist basically said ‘too bad you have to make her do them’. Within the seminar the guys went through each primitive reflex and gave so many practical exercises that are actually fun for children to complete. My daughter now looks forward to doing her primitive reflex exercises because they involve equipment she loves playing with and she has fun! I also learned so many tools to build emotional and physical resilience with my daughter; in particular the section on building child autonomy, intrinsic motivation and how to speak in a way that helps me, my wife and my daughter. Thank you so much guys. The whole experience was amazing.”

  • “Being an Occupational Therapist who works with kids I was unsure whether I would get a lot out of the seminar. I was so wrong! I knew the theory and clinical primitive exercises but the boys just had so many fun variations to integrate primitive reflexes. I have started using these with my own kids and the results have been profound. I’m no longer fighting the same resistance from children in doing their primitive reflex exercises. The research for gross motor learning and communication styles was fascinating. This was not just about learning to create exercises, but how to connect and improve children’s outcomes across movement, education, interpersonal skill building and much more. I recommend this to any parent, support worker or allied health professional. I’m already trying to get the First Mover team to bring a seminar to my staff and parents. Thanks guys”

  • “I am a school teacher and recently convinced my principal to invite Ryan and James to present at our staff education day. Some of our teachers had been struggling with the behaviours of some of our children with complex needs. I was expecting a seminar on exercise and movement but was surprised with all the language styles and practical tools to get the best outcomes for neurodivergent children. The guys supported their advice with sound clinical evidence. Some of our teachers were understandably skeptical about the seminar but all came away with communication strategies that they could immediately implement. The results in the classroom have been profound!”
